What is the ideal diet?  Your goal is to lose the weight and keep it off.  Fast weight loss, only brings the weight back, after a couple of weeks. A slow weight loss will change your nutritional habits for good. Thus, you have a diet plan that you can live with for life.

 

Where Can I Start?

 

To begin with, you need to take out the foods that are making you fat:  fried chicken, fried fish, chicken fried steak, white rice and white potatoes. You can have baked chicken, baked fish, sweet potatoes and brown rice.  By replacing the foods, you are on your way to good nutrition.

 

Drink plenty of water. Water helps to flush out the unwanted waste from your system.  Most of your food has water in it. You need to eliminate soda, diet soda and fruit drinks. They all contain sugar. You can drink fruit flavored low-calorie water. Water will help you to tone your stomach.

What Can I Do, When I Eat Out?

 

Limit your intake of beer and alcohol to two drinks a day. By limiting beer intake, you can reduce that beer belly and tone your stomach.

 

Watch what you eat, if you want to tone your stomach. If you eat out a lot, start to choose the healthy choices. It is not easy to do, when the rest of the menu seems more appealing. But, use your judgement.  In some restaurants, the meal can feed two to three people, so take some home for later on. By following a plan, the Eating out Experience will not hurt your diet plan.

 

What’s For Breakfast?

 

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Have some eggs with whole wheat toast for a nutritious start to your day. Add a glass of orange juice to round out the meal. Try to avoid cereal with added sugar, donuts and other breakfast pastries and white bread.  They all contain sugar and will add unwanted calories to your diet.

Do You Smoke?

 

If you smoke, now is a good time to quit. Studies have shown that smokers have more stomach fat, than nonsmokers. By cutting out smoking, you can tone your stomach and do an exercise program.

 

Exercise can be broken down into three parts:

 

1)      Aerobic or Cardiovascular Exercises

2)      Body Building or Weight Lifting Exercises

3)      Stretching

 

What Exercises Can I Do?

 

Aerobic or Cardiovascular Exercises have your body in constant motion.  This exercise helps to reduce the internal body fat that surrounds the organs and to tone your stomach. Aerobic Exercises are broken down into two parts: indoor and outdoor.

 

Indoor Aerobic Exercises include the Treadmill, Stationary Bike and the Rowing Machine. These machines contain settings for endurance and weight loss.  You can tone your stomach and watch the news on television.

 

Outdoor Aerobic Exercises include running, walking, and bicycling. Running burns the most calories. All three exercises will tone your stomach. You will get good exercise, and you will see something new at each turn.

What is Weight Lifting?

 

Body Building or Weight Lifting Exercises include free weights and the weight resistance machines. The exercises help to develop your muscles and tone your stomach. Begin your program at your local fitness center. An instructor can guide you through the program.

 

What About Stretching?

 

Stretching is usually down immediately after exercise. Stretching helps to cool down the warm muscles. By stretching, you can prevent muscle strain and muscle spasms.
