Low Carb Pasta
Most diets today recommend cutting back on pasta. The daily spaghetti and meatballs
have to go, if you want to lose weight. But, there are alternatives, depending on what
your needs are.

Can I Limit the Pasta?
As a start, try limiting the pasta to just one day a week. Make Sunday, low carb pasta
day, and you won’t feel so deprived. Limit yourself on how much pasta you need. It’s easy
to empty out the whole box.
Make Sunday, low carb pasta day with a well-rounded meal. Add plenty of vegetables
like tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and eggplant. Try to cut back on the bread and rolls and you will be
starting your weight management program.
Why is Spaghetti Bad for Me?
Flour spaghetti turns to sugar in your digestive system, which is whole wheat
spaghetti was introduced. Some whole wheat spaghetti is low carb pasta and can be used in place of the flour
spaghetti. Whole wheat spaghetti tastes good and is better for you.

What about the Sauce?
Spaghetti Sauce is what enhances the flavor of the spaghetti. Canned Spaghetti Sauce
has more natural ingredients, without some of the additives the bottled spaghetti sauce has. Check the labels
for sugar content and the carbohydrates level.
What are Some Low Carb Pasta?
Some Asian noodles are low carb pasta. Shirataki noodles are available in grocery
stores and health food stores. The noodles are almost all fiber and ready to eat.
Spaghetti Squash is good low carb pasta. Just bake for about a half hour and cut
open. Strands of spaghetti squash are inside. These strands are great with pasta sauce and
other vegetables. Cook this as a surprise for Sunday dinner.
What about Vegetables?
Zucchini, Cauliflower, Eggplant, and Peppers are great with spaghetti sauce. You can
broil, bake or fry in olive oil, for a low carb pasta taste. Just add a little cheese for that special
combination.
Ever make a low-carb Eggplant Parmigiana. Just slice some eggplant,
and place in a baking dish. Add some spaghetti sauce and place cheese slices (preferably
Mozzarella Cheese) on top. Bake for one half-hour for a delicious side dish.
I Love Lasagna!
Low-carb lasagna noodles are available at the grocery store. You can also use zucchini
or eggplant, cut lengthwise, to represent the layers. Both options use low carb pasta to make delicious
dinners.
What Do Italians Do?
Limiting portions is very important. In Italy, Italians only eat a small bowl of pasta
at their meals. In America, we demand big pasta bowls in the supermarket and at Italian Restaurants. By
limiting your low carb pasta, you’ll be on your way to losing weight.

Ever Cook El Dente?
You can cook low carb pasta by cooking al dente. This pasta is cooked two minutes less
than the package directions. The pasta is much firmer and has fewer carbohydrates to digest. Try this with
spaghetti and taste the difference.
Want a Nutritious Meal?
Italian cooking contains some of the freshest ingredients including produce, seafood,
and meats. Try to include this freshness with your low carb pasta and other meals.
Low carb pasta is available in grocery stores. Try to eliminate your portion size, to
cut back on calories and carbs. Add more vegetables to your meal for better nutrition.
